okay, so…
We now live in Idaho.
Jeremy is no longer in the Navy.
We have goats, ducks, geese, chickens, and turkeys.
And I’m finally starting to get back into the studio!
i’m looking for shows to get involved with for the holiday season, and for places to sell some of my pieces.
Photos coming soon.

ROADTRIP?!?!
Alright, our house is packed; our possessions are in storage; and someone else lives in our house. Jeremy is going out to sea. I am going to roadtrip!
I’ll be in CA, NV, and ID, before coming back here-for a short bit-and then we are actually moving to Idaho! Seems so unreal that it is actually happening!
So this blog will be inactive for the most part. I hope to rent some studio time while in Vegas, and if I have any thing to photo, I’ll try to post it.
My goal is to keep the other blog updated about my travels and whatnot…Though I’ve done a rather poor job so far.
It can be found here: www.intothedomesticated.com/blog Feel free to email me if you want…and I’ll be back eventually.
I’m not sure when I’ll get my studio up in Idaho-I’m sure it will be makeshift at first.
Cheers!

They aren’t quite as cute as goats…but these bovine creamers make me smile every time I look at them!
When I first saw this mold, I was super scared to try it! The cow is one piece, two legs are poured and attached separately, as well as the horns and back of head. Craziness! But once I gathered my courage, it really isn’t hard at all.
And it is so stinkin’ cute! You can get them on Etsy (of course!).

I’ve been working…slowly…The house projects and prospect of moving sooner than planned have my head spinning, which makes it hard to concentrate. I had a very pretty kiln load yesterday, most of which is now on Etsy. I finally got some matted photos up there last night, too. Is it sad that my newest creations are almost always my favorite?? I just continue to entertain my own senses.
I’m starting to work on ‘going away’ gifts for friends here. I love making things for people, but the circumstance surrounding the gifts is sad. We’ve been planning and counting for so long, it doesn’t seem possible that it is really going to happen. As with most plans, it is becoming a bit rocky…homeless for a few months…But hey, it’s an adventure, right? Right. I’ll be doing more non-pottery things…writing and taking photos as I travel, but I have found a couple of pottery studios, so I will get muddy too.

Best wishes for a happy, healthy, productive new year!
I have a few new things on Etsy, and more coming, and a website revision is needed. If only the kitchen would put itself back together without my help.
The snow was gone, and then we woke up to more this morning! Only an inch, and was quickly gone, but all the cold weather has made drying and glazing very difficult. I’ve had to move the glazing operation inside, which is fine, but is a lot of lugging pots back and forth.

Is it really December? Craziness. My last weekend show, Tacoma Winterfest, is this weekend-looks like fun. They have a solid entertainment schedule for both days, and Captain Claus is supposed to arrive via tug boat! Our trip to Idaho was good. Still have photos to get up from that; we got to plan and research and meet more people. Sunny, windy, and good.
Here are a couple of “newer” photos, but not really at this point. And coming soon…butter dishes, compost pots, and flower pots!

First, the Kitsap Gift and Food Fair was awesome! I was a bit nervous about manning my booth for three straight days (it’s the only I have had to be in attendance for the entire time), but it was a lot of fun. Thanks to all who came by to chat, buy, or just look! It was great meeting people; I got a bunch of new ideas from folks, and I was set up next to some amazing crafters and artists (I’ll have links up soon).
Second, we are in Idaho this week; we left Sunday night after the show. We are celebrating Thanksgiving with Jeremy’s folks, making contacts and doing research. We’ll be back on the weekend, and then I’ll be back to work on all my new ideas and comissions.
Third, if you found this site because of seeing me at the show (any show), send me an email, or leave a comment! I’d love to know you stopped by.
Fourth, Happy Thanksgiving!

sub ornaments
…or a fleet of yellow submarines…
That is right, submarine ornaments! And in different colors, too. I happen to be partial to the yellow ones. My friend Becca came over to make some ornaments, including subs. How cool is a submarine cookie cutter?? Anyway, Jeremy came home and decided they should be anatomically correct…or as correct and a cookie cutter allows, so we added the fair weather (front on the sail) and stern (back) planes, which also adds some nice dimension.
Becca has been bringing her 12year old, Mariah, over for some art education…not that I educate very well, but I’m trying. I’m having fun…I assume she is having fun, she did come back. ;) She glazed her first project, a very cool coiled bowl, and made some fun looking mugs. Here is her glazed bowl. I am very proud of her, and impressed. Definitely better looking, and more useful!, than my first coiled bowl.

Mariah's bowl
I bought some low fire clay, and new glazes this week to try. So I’ve been making different shaped ornaments, and some handbuilt plates for the holidays. I’ve finally found an easy plate that works for handbuilding, which is good, would be better if they weren’t warping quite so much… I unloaded the first of these newbies this morning (with the subs), they look pretty good, if I do say so myself. I need to adjust my application of the luster glazes, they look a bit thin (the green and gold/bronze stars). I’ll be hotgluing ribbons to these, and the subs. Someone recommended the hot glue rather than actual holes…We’ll see. I just like to use my hole puncher. (The last photos if of my super duper nesting bowls-I am so proud!
)
This week is busy getting ready for the Kitsap Show, and finishing things up so I am ready for the Hilltop Craft Show the first week in December; and packing for Idaho… The Kitsap Show allows for more tables than the others, which means I need to make another super awesome tablecloth.
I love linen, which is why I chose it for my tables, but it was a horrible decision, because I have to iron them before each show, and they are really big! (not a fan of ironing).
I’m trying to get more things listed on Etsy…slow going. Definitely lamenting my digital camera at the moment. I think Jeremy bought it in 2001, and it is pretty much a brick; slow; and takes horrible low light photos. As much as I would love to upgrade to a DSLR, I would be super happy with one of those nice, thin point & shoot cameras. I would like it thin enough to put in my bike jersey for rides. That would be nice. I haven’t really been taking photos recently, other than of my work. My goal is just to go through and edit some taken earlier this fall, as I do have some nice ones…they’re just sitting, waiting for me.

I’m over half way through my show schedule *whew!*. 4 down, 2 more to go. It has gone by quicker and easier than I imagined; although now I am feeling the crunch a little bit. I have a week and a half until the Kitsap show, when it is over we immediately go to Idaho for Thanksgiving (6ish days), will return and 3 days later set up for my last show. This means I need enough inventory
now to get me through….which I don’t have. Plus, I want/need to get more inventory online with Etsy…
AND I just placed several things on consignment at
Pinecone Gifts in Kingston!! Pinecone Gifts sells arts and crafts made by local artists.
The Snohomish show went well; I got lost going home from my workshift in the evening, and I found a super cool bookstore in one of the 7 towns I went through to get there. And I even sold a few things.
Ah, but there were breakages. My little Charlie Brown Tree I am using to display my ornaments fell off its crate and broke 7 ornaments. Not so bad, but it was followed by me dropping a slipcast turkey on a leaf bowl and breaking off a leaf. The turkey survived. I think I can successfully epoxy the leaf back on and use it on my own table. It was a very clutsy move on my part. In packing and unpacking for the Market over the summer, I only broke one thing; a saucer, and it broke the last Saturday I was at the Market (due to my rush packing). So my record so far is good, hopefully it will stay where it is.
So, I intend to have muddy hands until we depart to Idaho. Tomorrow though, I go to fetch more clay, and work on some new ideas, and work on business plans for the dairy, etc.
Oh yeah, and in other news, our house is officially for sale!
